Innovative checklists management

Practise smart. Check fast. Fly safe.

Aviation is about to enter a new chapter in checklist management. CROSSorCHECK, the innovative platform for creating, managing and sharing checklists, is revolutionising the way pilots prepare for their flights.

The story began with “Easy Memory Item”, a training tool for emergency procedures that had quickly won the hearts of Airbus pilots worldwide. What started as a small tool found users on every continent within two weeks of its release in the App Store. And it wasn‘t long before general aviation also took notice.

However, it quickly became clear that the old system was not up to the enormous task.In particular, the option of editing your own checklists was a frequently requested feature. It was clear that more than just a few hours of programming work would be needed for this. In addition to countless development steps on the old system, “the new development” was repeatedly planned with a new team – preferably with a prominent partner who dared to go one step further.a

At the beginning of 2025, DG Aviation gave the go-ahead to venture into the digital world of checklists and pilot training with the DG 1001e neo. Until now, brand-new aircraft have also been delivered with new books, but these mostly originate from the last millennium, not to mention up-to-date training for “normal and emergency procedures”. CROSSorCHECK aims to help by offering pilots the opportunity to design their own checklists and to practise emergency procedures from the comfort of their own home. And not alone either, but also in “battle” with club colleagues, student pilots or training partners – whomever you want to compare yourself with.

We have known for decades that checklists – whether for normal or emergency procedures – are vital. However, we also know how often they may be either not used or not used correctly, or written wrongly or badly. And sometimes they are just lying inaccessible in the trunk. Not to mention emergency procedures. “Eject the gas and somehow land” has always worked well so far. Or: “The lists are all in the Garmin or LX9000” - it‘s easy to say. However, if the rope suddenly breaks, the power fails or the cabin fills with smoke, good advice is often expensive. In keeping with the times, such things are best learned through play. For young and old!

Just three steps to your own checklist

How does it work?

1. “Pick it!” means: grab an existing checklist. It‘s easy to do: simply select your aircraft from the huge range, or choose the one that most closely resembles yours.

2. Then it‘s time to customize: “Shape it!” If you have a different order or other terms have been adopted in your club, you can easily customize them!

3. And with “Share it!” everyone benefits: Share “your” aircraft with your group and train together or continue to work on “your” optimal checklist!

CROSSorCHECK.com at the AERO Friedrichshafen Exposition at the DG-Aviation stand. Look forward to an exclusive AERO launch promotion (from 09.04. to 12.04.) – and a special treat for all DG pilots! Even after the AERO, the excitement continues: the year is packed with updates and new features.

Flight Safety should not only be effective, but also fun. And checklists will never be outdated or cumbersome again, leading to unnecessary mistakes!
